Originally a summer guest house on the six acre estate of one of Glencoe’s founders, this structure was relocated in 1994 from 245 Hawthorn to its present site on Vernon Avenue. The
original structure included the present living room, entrance hall,
and two front bedrooms. An addition containing dining room and kitchen
with sleeping porch above (later enclosed) was added to the rear of
the original structure in 1899. The front gable is of particular interest
with its early Palladian window framed in characteristic Italianate
detail. This project was featured in a 1999 edition of the Chicago Tribune newspaper. |
